Terms & Conditions
Please read these terms carefully before booking your first lesson.
1. Who These Terms Are With
These Terms and Conditions are between you and Ascot Vale Driving School (ABN 52 482 851 308), a mobile driving instruction service operating across metropolitan Melbourne. By requesting a lesson you agree to these terms, so please read them before you book.
If you are under 18, please book with the agreement of a parent or guardian, who accepts these terms on your behalf.
2. Bookings & Confirmation
Submitting the form on this website is a request, not a confirmed lesson. Your booking exists only once Brandon confirms it with you by email. Until then the time is held for you but not guaranteed.
All driving lessons and VicRoads practical drive tests are subject to instructor availability.
You may hold a small number of unconfirmed requests at once. If you need several lessons booked at the same time, call Brandon on 0478 182 320 and he will arrange them directly.
3. Lesson Types & Pricing
We offer 45-minute, 1-hour and 90-minute single lessons, and a 2.5-hour Drive Test package that includes test preparation, a simulated test, and use of the instructor's vehicle for your assessment.
Current prices are shown on our Pricing page and include GST. The price that applies to your lesson is the one displayed when you submitted your request, and it will not change afterwards — later price changes only affect new bookings.
Travel. Prices assume a pickup within our usual service area. Where a pickup involves significant additional travel, an additional travel fee may apply. Any such fee will always be discussed and agreed with you before your lesson — it is never added afterwards.
4. What You Need for Every Lesson
Throughout these terms, a forfeited session means the lesson or test does not go ahead, the full fee remains payable, and no refund, discount or reschedule is provided.
A valid licence. You must produce a valid Victorian learner permit — or a valid overseas licence — whenever the instructor asks to see it. If you cannot produce one, the instructor may refuse the lesson or test and the session is forfeited.
Safe footwear. Safe, enclosed footwear must be worn while driving. Open footwear, bare feet and high heels are considered unsafe for both training and testing. If your footwear is unsuitable, the instructor may refuse the lesson or test and the session is forfeited.
Being contactable. You must be contactable before your lesson starts, so the instructor can call or SMS you on arrival at the meeting point.
5. Drive Test Bookings
You book the test, not us. Ascot Vale Driving School does not book VicRoads appointments on your behalf. By giving us your test details you are confirming that you have already booked the VicRoads practical drive test yourself.
You must confirm instructor availability before you book your VicRoads test. If you book a test without confirming availability first, any change needed to that test appointment is your responsibility and at your cost.
Pickup timing. Book your pickup for one hour before your confirmed VicRoads assessment time, so there is time for preparation and to arrive at the testing centre. Where you are meeting the instructor at a nominated VicRoads location, arrive at least 10 minutes before the scheduled lesson and/or test.
Your phone. When meeting at a VicRoads location, keep your mobile switched on and reachable so the instructor can find you. Your phone must be switched off during the drive test itself.
On the day you must have everything VicRoads requires, including:
- your VicRoads appointment receipt;
- Hazard Perception Test documents, where applicable;
- corrective eyewear — this must be worn where your licence requires it;
- a logbook meeting VicRoads' requirements, where applicable;
- for overseas drivers, a valid overseas licence plus any supporting documents VicRoads requires.
Requirements change from time to time. Check them with VicRoads on 13 11 71 or at vicroads.vic.gov.au before your test.
The same applies if you have not actually booked the test, or the details you gave us are wrong — including an incorrect date or time.
We prepare you as well as we can, but we cannot and do not guarantee that you will pass.
6. Cancellation & Rescheduling
If you cancel: we require at least 24 hours' notice to cancel or reschedule. Cancellations with less than 24 hours' notice will be charged the full lesson fee, as will a lesson where you are not present and contactable within 15 minutes of the scheduled start.
If we cancel: in the rare case Brandon has to cancel, you will be told as soon as possible and offered a reschedule at no cost or a full refund of anything already paid.
Repeated late cancellations may mean future lessons need to be paid for in advance.
7. Payment
Payment is by PayID or bank transfer — there are no card fees and no third-party payment platform. Once your booking is confirmed, Brandon will send you the payment details by email.
Payment must clear before the date of your lesson. Multi-lesson packages, where offered, are paid in full before the first lesson of the package.
8. Lesson Conduct
Please be ready at the agreed pickup address at the scheduled time. Lessons start and finish at the scheduled time, so a late start shortens the lesson rather than extending it.
Brandon may end a lesson immediately, without refund, if a student appears to be under the influence of alcohol or drugs, is abusive or threatening, refuses reasonable instruction, or otherwise puts anyone's safety at risk.
All lessons are conducted in a dual-control vehicle that meets VicRoads requirements. You must follow the instructor's directions at all times during a lesson.
9. Liability
Ascot Vale Driving School holds the instructor accreditation and insurance required to provide driving instruction in Victoria.
Nothing in these terms excludes, restricts or modifies any guarantee, right or remedy you have under the Australian Consumer Law that cannot lawfully be excluded. Our services come with guarantees that cannot be excluded under that law — including that they will be provided with due care and skill.
Beyond those rights, we are not liable for loss or damage arising from circumstances outside our reasonable control, including severe weather, road closures, traffic conditions, vehicle breakdown, or VicRoads rescheduling or cancelling an assessment. Where we are permitted by law to limit our liability, it is limited to resupplying the lesson or refunding what you paid for it.
10. Privacy
How we handle your personal information is set out in our Privacy Policy, which forms part of these terms.
11. Changes to These Terms
We may update these terms from time to time. The version that applies to your lesson is the one published when your booking was confirmed. The current version is always on this page, dated at the top.
12. Governing Law
These terms are governed by the laws of Victoria, Australia, and the courts of Victoria have jurisdiction over any dispute.
